HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!

21x12 wellness challenge holistic dietitian

…… and with the New Year often comes the resolution to get in better shape, eat better, get more sleep etc. Well, the 21×12 Wellness Challenge is a monthly program set up to help you achieve these goals in baby steps. No crazy revamping of your diet or lifestyle that is so extreme that after a few weeks it seems unmanageable.

Rebecca Bilodeau, the Holistic Dietitian, leads a monthly challenge for participants that tackles one aspect of introducing manageable, attainable and realistic health, nutrition and general wellness goals. Once  a month there is a meeting to introduce that month’s challenge, and ways to support it and things to avoid that aren’t aiding your overall health. From there participants have access to a password protected forum to log their daily results, see how others in the group are doing and a blog for questions, comments, encouragement etc.

The next meeting is taking place Monday February 1st - Find out more HERE!

YMCA posterhey gals,

the YMCA is having their annual YMCA Spin-a-Thon on February 20th from noon until 5pm to raise funds for the YMCA international committee. Fitworks will have a women’s team of five represented at the Spin-a-Thon to help the cause.

Info from the YMCA website:

“The YMCA Spin-A-Thon is an event that invites teams and individuals to participate in a five hour bike ride using our indoor cycles.

Proceeds from this event support the activities of the YMCA International Committee.  Across our country, Canadian YMCAs work with YMCAs in lesser developed countries to help them achieve our shared goal of building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

Currently there are about 30 active partnerships between Canadian and overseas YMCAs.  The Moncton Y has partners in Colombia and Honduras.

How does it work?

The first ride starts at noon – sharp!  We will have volunteers available to help people set up their bike.

One bike is provided per team

There will be a break every hour to allow team members to change up, but team members can change up more often if needed.  All team members, maximum of 8, must be on the team’s registration form and must have signed a waiver.

Instructors change every hour as well, so the engergy will be at a maximum!

Water bottles are mandatory… Towels will be provided!”
