Last, but not least, we will hold 3 cyclo-cross events in October (12, 19 & 26) to conclude the series with our famous Boo-Cross event.

Just a reminder that this Tuesday, October 27th is the last of the MBS Cup cross series events. If you haven’t tried it I suggest you come check out the fun!!! It starts at 6pm at the Rotary Park in Dieppe.

Congratulations to Rheal for his 4th place finish in this past weekend’s provincial cross race held by Darling’s Island Bike Shop!

Also, this in from Sheila at Velo NB:

Hello Velo NB Member

If you made it to the first cross race you know how much fun tearing about the countryside on a bicycle can be. If you missed that one, here’s your chance to take in the next one. I have attached the race flyer for Sunday’s race in Nauwigewauk which is easier to find than it is to spell. Don’t let the weather forecast scare you off - cross is actually more fun in worse weather - or perhaps it’s just that it feels so good when you stop!

So here’s the cross series schedule

#1 Oct 18 - Dieppe - 31 riders came out and had a blast
#2 Oct 25 - Nauwigewauk
#3 Nov 1 - Dieppe
#4 Nov 8 - Fredericton

If by then you are so hooked you need more cross there is a series in Halifax that continues until Dec 6.

Charles will have the velodrome open at 530 tomorrow for people to come try (and practice for the 630 MBS race if you wish to participate - no pressure, you can just ride for the hour before if you wanted). I think the cycling centre had been asking a $10-15 fee for the track 101, i’m not sure if Charles collects that tomorrow or not.
The track is loads of fun (even if it is a bit daunting at first glance).
Charles will also have the track open for fun and practice (no race) on thursday at 530 until dark as well. hope you can come out for some fun!
you need to bring your own pedals though

Don’t forget that the MBS Cup series continues this Tuesday with three weeks of Track at the Caisse Populaire Velodrome in Dieppe.

  • BMX: Monday and Wednesday (from 6 to 7:30). Wednesday will be your coached evening with Mike LeBlanc for the members. Monday will be open night for everyone.
  • Track: Tuesday and Thursday (from 6 to 7:30). The next three Tuesdays will be racing as part of the Mike’s Bike Shop Cup. Charles Cormier will be responsible for these evenings.

The MBS Cup series resumes tonight with the road criterium events.

Take a peak at the Atlantic Cycling Centre web site for more details!

Hey everyone, the first of 3 road criterium events in the MBS Cup Series will be postponed tomorrow (Tuesday, July 14th) due to road construction.

However, Luc Arseneau of the Atlantic Cycling Centre in Dieppe is requesting a volunteer evening (starting at 6pm) to help work at the Caisse Populaire Velodrome in St-Anselme Rotary Park. Tasks include cutting and replacing boards, pick up nails and screws, making sure other volunteers have water etc - no construction experience required, but please do wear appropriate attire, it is a working site.

Here’s a little blurb from the Cycling Centre’s website today:

“The Mike’s Bike Shop Cup was supposed to be resuming tomorrow evening with the first of three criterium, but we recently discovered some construction of the usual course. Obviously, this will mean we will need to postpone tomorow’s crit to next Tuesday.

That being said, we would like to invite everyone to the Vélodrome to help us complete this important task tomorrow evening (Tuesday) from 6 pm. We will take advantage of this time to finalize the plan to put the track back together…

The Caisse populaire Dieppe Vélodrome has been a community project from day one, and Dieppe has made many Canadian and American cities incredibly jealous. The cyclists own it, and the time has come to prove it once again. We thank you in advance for your great support!”

For more information check the Centre’s website.

The MBS Cup Time Trial series is coming to a wrap with this evening’s race.

If you haven’t tried it yet, come out for the challenge of a 17km all out effort. If you’ve tried it already, come see if you can top your last race’s pace.

Hope the rain holds off again this week and we have another great turn out. See you there!

There will be one week off in the series before moving to the next discipline - which is slated to be Track. However, the Velodrome is under renovations so we’ll keep you posted - it may be Road Criterium instead.
